Lift Renewal Programme
We are responsible for the maintenance and repair of lifts in
housing blocks throughout Newham, which is carried out by Griffins
Lifts (see their web link).
We are currently undertaking a schedule of replacement
of the old lift controllers with a more modern equivalent. The new
controllers are more efficient which in turn will make our lifts
more reliable.
They will also require less power to operate which will help
reduce emissions into the atmosphere. This will help in reaching
the Governments target to reduce carbon dioxide levels.
There is also an ongoing programme of lift replacements. Where
there are two existing lifts that serve alternate floors, the new
lifts will be designed so that both lifts serve all floors.
In the case of a single lift, where ever possible, a temporary lift
will be erected on the outside of the block.
