We offer a household contents insurance scheme to all council tenants. You will pay the insurance premiums every week as part of your rent charges.
If you choose to insure your home under our scheme, we will include the premium on your rent card. The charge will depend on the value of the items you insure and whether you are over 60. As with heating and hot water, insurance charges are not covered by Housing Benefit. If you are interested in applying for home contents insurance under our scheme, you can get an application form from any Local Service Centre. This leaflet outlines the scheme and policy in full.
