service & other charges
Some specific parts of your rent are now identified separately.
Service Charges
These include those for caretaking, concierge (door porter schemes), communal TV aerials and gardening. Housing Benefit may cover these charges, and we may break down rental charges even more in the future so that you can easily see what your rent pays for.
Other Charges
These include any charges that you have to pay that are not covered by another section on the rent card. For example, we have a Community Alarm Service (called Newham Network) which provides a service to deal with emergencies to support elderly or vulnerable tenants. We charge a small amount every week to provide this service, which is listed under 'Other charges'.
