'Newham Homes was delighted to hold its first Open Day on Saturday, 20 June 2009 at the Old Town Hall in Stratford.
There were a variety of stalls in the main hall which featured a range of services provided by Newham Homes, such as the Resident Involvement Team, Rent Services, Property Services and Caretaking Services. There were also stalls by contractors (Mulalley, Breyer, Connaught, EPS and United House) who are carrying out Modern Homes work for Newham Homes in the borough as well as for other services provided by Newham Council such as Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour, Housing Benefits, Pest Control and the Library Service and Local Service Centres. Outside agencies such as the Fire Brigade and the Judiciary Service were also represented. Staff were on hand to answer all residents' questions.
A number of workshops were organised for the morning and afternoon.
In the Environmental car park, some of Newham Homes' Caretaking Services' staff demonstrated how their new cleaning equipment is used.
Despite there being no tube service in Newham and other events taking place in the borough on the day, a good number of Newham Homes' residents did attend. Feedback was very positive and residents said that they hoped Newham Homes would hold a similar event in the future.'
